2. Diving Then Making A Save
3. Reflex Training
Do these skills 3 times each – Repeat twice a week
1. AGILITY SKILLS
Goal Keeper pads up and does the agility circuit with pads on. Do the drill as fast as you can.
1. SPRINT FORWARD 2. SIDE SHUFFLE 3. SPRINT FORWARD 4. SIDE SHUFFLE 5. WEAVE THROUGH THE CONES 6. SPRINT BACK TO THE GOALS Repeat 3 times
2. DIVING THEN MAKING A SAVE
Player has 10 balls. When ready keeper starts and slides towards a cone like a clearance save and whilst she is getting back to her goal player A flicks the ball at the far right corner. This drill will help improve keepers’ reaction and explosive speed to get up from the ground.
NB – think of where the GK will be clearing the ball to.
3. REFLEX TRAINING
Player A lines up 10 balls in the 6-yard area and player B lines up 10 balls on top of the circle. Player A starts flicking the balls as fast as she can. The GK has to clear the ball away from the players reach as she is allowed to play any rebounds. Once Player A’s balls are completed Player B does the same.
